In 2007, she took a leap of faith and founded her own real estate firm called TradeStreet Realty, located in Uptown Charlotte. Over the course of a decade, Valerie successfully managed TradeStreet Realty, leading a talented team of 12 agents and support staff.

Valerie resides in Uptown and proudly hails from North Carolina, where she grew up with five siblings. While she cherishes the triumphs in her real estate career, she considers her greatest successes to be her two adult children, her daughter-in-law, and her four beloved grandchildren. Her son, Randal E. Baker, is an accomplished industrial engineer and a graduate of North Carolina State University. Her daughter, Zekia N. Lewis, holds a degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

Apart from her professional endeavors, Valerie dedicates a significant portion of her time to projects focused on empowering women and children. She finds joy in volunteering to help local high school girls and treasures moments spent with family and friends. Valerie also enjoys indulging in her love for reading, traveling, shopping, running, and supporting the local sports teams, particularly the Charlotte Hornets and the Carolina Panthers, as a proud PSL holder. Valerie's contributions extend beyond real estate, as she has served as the secretary of The Landmark Commission and played key roles on its Education Committee and Design Review Board.
