About Valerie

Valerie was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and spent most of her childhood in New Jersey before relocating to North Carolina in 1986. She graduated with honors from UNC Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Prior to her real estate career she owned a company called TextWorks which provided documentation and training materials for the banking industry. She sold this company in 1998, embarked on her career in real estate and quickly became a consistent Top Producer.

In August 2006, Valerie decided to turn her dream of owning her own real estate company into a reality and founded HM Properties. The company began as a small boutique agency with six agents and has grown to be an award-winning real estate agency with over 125 brokers and 14 staff members including our in-house relocation and marketing departments. Our main office is centrally located in the SouthPark area and we opened our second office in July 2018, in the Waverly development off Providence Road near I-485 in Charlotte. Our third office opened in September 2019, and is in the Lake Norman area. In June 2021, we affiliated with The Corcoran Group and our name became Corcoran HM Properties. Soon after affiliating, we opened an office in Charleston, SC and recently expanded our operations to the Bluffton and Hilton Head areas in South Carolina.

Valerie and her husband, Joe Pellegrini, married in 2011, and live in the Foxcroft neighborhood. Valerie has two children; Calvin who is also a Broker with Corcoran HM Properties and Spencer. Joe is a Managing Director for Robert W. Baird. Valerie’s interests include traveling, writing, and watching professional sports. A season ticket holder of Hornets and Panthers, she enjoys attending these games and spending quality time with her family.
