Less than 3 miles from downtown Reno, the Wildcreek community offers city living with a suburban feel. Primarily residential, the area is home to several planned communities, a business park and two major highways. There are multiple schools, including the nearby Truckee Meadows Community College and the University of Nevada-Reno. "Wildcreek is a little more expensive than other parts of northern Reno. There are a lot of townhomes and condos, and there’s a golf course nearby,” says Lolis Vasquez, a Realtor with Reno Sparks Realty with 14 years of experience. “It’s a beautiful area that has a slower feel to it. It’s three miles from the university, so there are some college students, too.”
Wildcreek’s homes are built on tiered parcels to accommodate the rising hills. It also creates the opportunity for spectacular views of the nearby Sierra Nevada Mountains or neighboring Reno. Claio is a local eatery with a stylish interior and Greek-ish dishes. The Mediterranean-inspired spot serves rotisserie meats, crispy potatoes and wines from Greece. Yu-De-Thai is a go-to neighborhood spot for authentic Thai cuisine. Its priority is to make everyone feel at home, with meal options for meat eaters and vegans. Sakana Sushi offers all-you-can-eat sushi and chashu ramen in a cozy, colorful environment. Its two-roll to-go specials are a favorite of those working nearby.

The neighborhood is adjacent to the Wildcreek Golf Course. Open to the public year-round, it’s hosted the PGA Seniors Tournament three times. Established in 1978, the club is known for its varied topography, from hole one’s 515-yard par five opener to the 150-yard uphill par three shot. Guests often try the driving range and putting and chipping greens before hitting the clubhouse, restaurant and pro shop.
Teamwork, communication and careers
Students might attend schools like Lois Allen Elementary, Fred Traner Middle or North Valleys High. The elementary and middle schools earned a C ranking from Niche, while the high school has a B-minus. Allen Elementary’s students are divided into one of four houses to encourage teamwork and belonging. Traner Middle uses the Infinite Campus Portal for parents and caregivers to keep up with their children’s grades and attendance. North Valleys High was built in 2001 and has a respected theatre program, a college and career center, and multiple athletic teams.

Outdoor fun at varying elevations
Wildcreek offers outdoor enthusiasts all sorts of ways to enjoy the high desert steppe. There are nearby hiking and biking trails along with several green spaces. University Ridge Park covers almost 13 acres and includes walking paths, picnic shelters and barbecue grills. Children enjoy the playground, while everyone can use the basketball court and exercise equipment. Melody Lane Park is a smaller area with plenty of benches to rest on. It also has a playground, picnic area, barbecue grills and walking trails.
