The streets of Orangecrest are lined with palm trees and single-family detached houses set along quiet cul-de-sacs. For many homes, short but wide driveways take up much of the front yard space. Prices start at about $570,000 for a single-story contemporary Mission Revival. Most homes are valued at about $825,000, but can stretch up to $940,000 for a two-story, five-bedroom New Traditional home with stucco siding and a heated pool.

There are a number of schools within walking distance of Orangecrest homes, like Benjamin Franklin Elementary, rated A on Niche, Amelia Earhart Middle, rated A-minus and Martin Luther King Junior High, rated A. All are part of Riverside Unified School District. The high school offers academic pathway programs which prepare students for careers in fields like graphic design and sports medicine.

Three neighborhood parks
All three centrally located parks – Bergamont Park, Thundersky Park and Orange Terrace Community Park – have playgrounds where families can relax and play. The latter includes athletic fields and a large public library. Additionally, golfers take swings at General Old Golf Course and hikers drive north to Sycamore Canyon Wilderness Park for plenty of trails and wide-open spaces.

Where to walk & where to drive
While many Orangecrest homes are located within walking distance of daily amenities, locals tend to hop in the car to go to work or to access entertainment. Orangecrest is close to Interstate 215, which takes commuters up to downtown Riverside. Bus routes 22 and 27 via Riverside Transit have stops along Van Buren Boulevard, Trautwein Road and Orange Terrace Parkway. Most roads have sidewalks and some have bike lanes. Orangecrest is about 25 southeast of Ontario International Airport, which offers nonstop flights to a growing number of destinations, from Chicago to Taiwan. This neighborhood is just over 9 miles south of Riverside Community Hospital.

Important to know
Residents benefit from a low CAP Index crime score – a two out of ten – across all categories. Additionally, Orangecrest is surrounded by an industrial sector and Interstate 215 to the east. While the expanding industrial sector brings more jobs to the area, residents have to deal with street closures due to construction. “Target built a huge warehouse, but families don’t want more concrete tilt-ups,” Folsom says. “The traffic affects the residential streets.” Finally, Orangecrest carries a higher risk of wildfires than some of the more urbanized parts of Riverside.

There is very little nightlife in this area, with only a select few restaurants open into later hours. Most of our food options are brand name restaurants like Applebees and Chiles, and fast-food places like McDonalds, Jack in the Box, Carl's Jr. and the occasional In-N-Out. But there are few truly unique venues. A few popular food locations are Rubys, Red Robin, and Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor
