Why Live in Stratford Knolls
The Shakespearean subdivision of Stratford Knolls derives its name from Stratford-upon-Avon, the Bard’s hometown in the English countryside. Back stateside, the British-themed street names and dense foliage of Stratford Knolls may conjure images of midsummer nights in the Forest of Arden, but the Rochester Hills neighborhood was actually created in 1960 as a bedroom community for Metro Detroit. Homes with Colonial Revival and Tudor influences come with competitive prices, plus a highly rated school system and plenty of nearby shopping, casting a unique appeal on the Michigan "hamlet." Rochester Hills residents benefit from top-notch schools. City communications advisor Nathan Mueller says, “Our K-12 school system is among the state's best and we are also home to both Oakland University and Rochester Christian University.” Students can start their education at Meadow Brook Elementary School, located just a neighborhood over from Stratford Knolls; Niche gives this school an A rating. West Middle School, located within the community, is not yet rated. Rochester High School, rated an A, is perhaps best known for its marching band, which has made appearances at events from downtown
