Prosperity Heights is a neighborhood in St. Paul’s Greater East Side, one of the Twin City’s most diverse and populous districts. Residential streets point toward the namesake park at the heart of the neighborhood, and residents are within a mile of outdoor recreation and community events at Phalen Regional Park. Four miles away, downtown St. Paul hums with activity. “Phalen Lake is probably the biggest draw for that area,” says Paul Ekstrom, broker and owner of Realty One Group. Lower-than-average home prices offer another incentive to first-time homebuyers and investors. Most area residents are renters, and several apartment buildings surround Prosperity Heights Park. Meanwhile, single-family homes sit on tidy pocket-sized yards bordered by paved sidewalks and rows of mature trees. Some properties have driveways, but cars are often parked on the street.
