Riviera Bay
Homes have Mediterranean and Key West flair
Riviera Bay contains pricey waterfront real estate, while inland homes toward the neighborhood's west side remain more affordable. New Traditional homes and low-lying ranch-style homes are common throughout Riviera Bay, with carports or attached garages big enough for one car. These properties start around $280,000 for two or three bedrooms and around 1,000 square feet. Larger and more ornate properties with a range of styles can be found on the bay with private piers and boat docks, costing up to $1.9 million. Some have Mediterranean features like terra cotta roofs; others have Key West features like slim columns and large, sweeping porches. Whatever the style, many homes have large front windows to let in lots of light.Walking, tennis and basketball at Riviera Bay Park
Riviera Bay Park offers an eight-acre outdoor space right in the neighborhood. Residents stay active with paved walking paths, basketball courts and tennis courts, while kids can play on the slides and swings. Picnic shelters provide a shaded space for a picnic or a birthday celebration. Weedon Island Preserve covers more than 3,000 acres just across the bay. Originally home to indigenous peoples, today it's a popular spot for bird-watching, fishing, hiking and paddling.Career academies at Northeast High School
Kids in the area may start at Shore Acres Elementary, which earns a B-plus from Niche, before moving on to Meadowlawn Middle, which earns a C-plus. Older students can attend Northeast High, which earns a B-plus. Northeast High students can get ahead of the curve with certified career academies, through which they can earn college credit. The school also offers on-campus dual enrollment through St. Petersburg College.Authentic Irish pub and Italian cuisine with a twist
Several restaurants are located along Fourth Street North for a quick and easy bite to eat. Noble Crust of St. Petersburg fuses American Southern cuisine with Italian cuisine, serving creative dishes like bacon grit fritters. McArthur's is a pub straight out of Ireland with Guinness on tap and traditional dishes like Scotch eggs and corned beef with cabbage. When they need groceries and other essentials, locals head to Target, T.J. Maxx or HomeGoods. For a fun day or night on the town, downtown St. Pete offers bars, restaurants, art galleries, museums and movie theaters.Riviera Bay boats sparkle at Christmastime
Riviera Bay residents participate in neighborhood events year-round. The community hosts three golf cart parades for Christmas, the Fourth of July and Halloween. Neighbors drive their decked-out rides throughout the community to spread cheer. The Christmas Eve boat parade is another longtime neighborhood tradition that includes a prize for the best boat decorations. Guided by luminaries along the seawall, neighbors parade through the canals. "It's an awesome night in the neighborhood," Bess says.Fourth Street North goes to downtown St. Pete
Bordered by Fourth Street to the west, locals have a straight route to downtown St. Pete, which is six miles south. The neighborhood is just south of West Gandy Boulevard, which leads 15 miles to Tampa. The St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport is about 7 miles away, serving a long list of domestic destinations. For public transit, locals might take the number nine bus, with stops along Fourth Street North and 83rd Avenue North. First Street North offers a southern route with a dedicated bike lane just south of the neighborhood.Flooding is a risk in Riviera Bay
Riviera Bay is prone to flooding from heavy rains and high tides. According to a 2019 report, drainage improvements have been made to the area but have not stopped all flooding. Homes built before 1972 may be more susceptible to flooding.
