Why Live in Sunrise Almaden
Quiet streets wind between rows of midcentury-era homes in Sunrise Almaden. This small suburban neighborhood is in Almaden Valley, bordered by hilly parks, local trails and the Boulder Ridge Golf Club. Its biggest draws are its highly rated public schools, its scenic surroundings and its proximity to outdoor recreation. “It feels pretty suburban, but it’s next to some great parks and trails, and it’s super close to Boulder Ridge,” says Realtor Aaron Yang of Compass Real Estate, who has been working in the area for the last five years. “A lot of families consider this area because it has good schools, and it’s still a relatively short commute to Silicon Valley.” Ranch style homes are the most prominent home design in the neighborhood. These homes are typically between 6,000 and 7,000 square feet, with two-car garages and modestly sized front and backyards. “They were built in the 1960s and ‘70s. Much of the neighborhood is in a flood zone, so that’s something to be aware of if you’re looking here,” Yang says. The flooding is partially due to its proximity to Los Alamitos Creek, which runs along the northeastern edge of the neighborhood. Prices range from around $1.6 million to $2
