Why Live in Millview West
Millview West is an apartment community of around 2,000 that’s just half a mile from Texas State University. In the 1930s, Millview West and East were housing communities for local workers who processed wool at the Old Mill by the original railroad. Today, it looks much different for Millview West’s student population, with residents enjoying limited retail, plenty of restaurant options and local entertainment that includes college sports and a movie theater. Millview West is also close to downtown. “Up in Austin, they call it 6th Street, and in New Orleans, they call it Bourbon Street,” mill owner Henry Oles says. “That’s a little bit of what Downtown San Marcos is like.” Springtown Center is the neighborhood’s shopping mall and features its largest cluster of retailers and restaurants. Dining highlights include Saltgrass and Kobe Japanese Steak House, as well as a variety of American, Thai and Mexican restaurants. EVO Entertainment is the local movie theater with bowling lanes and an arcade. The mall also has a large nail salon presence, as well as an H-E-B grocery store and pharmacy.
The northeast corner has a few additional chain restaurants such as In-N-Out and Hawaiian
