Industrial powerhouse meets LA suburb
A former Spanish rancho and hot springs health resort, Santa Fe Springs’ colorful history reached its most pivotal point in the early 1920s — when one of the nation’s largest oil strikes took place. This has affected the city through the present day, with Santa Fe Springs remaining far more industrial than its neighbors. The manufacturing powerhouse is considered one of the Gateway Cities, with a location ideal for commuters working throughout the Los Angeles metro area, although there are plenty of warehouse jobs right in town. The city’s small residential section embodies the classic LA suburb, with streets of midcentury homes and strip malls.
