Located at 1111 S Grove Ave., Abraham Lincoln Elementary School has been serving Oak Park’s kindergarten through fifth grade students since 1906. Named for the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln Elementary successfully promotes literacy and problem-solving skills and 44% of the school's students test at or above reading proficiency levels while 45% return proficient math scores. Two of Abraham Lincoln's teachers have been awarded with prestigious Golden Apple-Honors for excellence in teaching and leadership. Lincoln Elementary enrolls 636 students who enjoy an average class size of 19. In between a challenging academic curriculum, students at Lincoln Elementary can participate in extracurricular self-expression that includes Latin American folk dance, art club, orchestra, band and chorus. Abraham Lincoln maintains a nature center outdoor classroom where students can practice planting vegetables and sunflowers while learning in an organic setting. The school’s compost initiatives have won recognition from the community of Oak Park, while the school's trekkers walk and fun run groups promote physical fitness. For over 100 years, the Abraham Lincoln Lions have been fierce contenders both in the classroom and the Oak Park community.

The school has diversity in terms of white and African-American students. There are also some Asian and Latino students. There are few Middle Eastern students. The Latino population is growing.

Lincoln is part of a public school system so my average ratings reflect the school system as a whole. In my experience, overall my child loves the school and teachers. Is the school perfect? The school has a reputation for being the worst elementary school in Oak Park. They are well known for disorganization (high turnover rate with principals) who arrive for work at 10 am three times a week and teachers are very unhappy.
