The Academy for Enriched Sciences, a public magnet elementary school in the Encino neighborhood of Los Angeles, California serves approximately 285 students from kindergarten through fifth grade.
Principal Amy Petry currently leads the student body at The Academy for Enriched Sciences where the impressive campus includes basketball courts, handball courts, a playground, a school garden, and a science lab.
As a science magnet school, The Academy for Enriched Sciences’ curriculum is built around science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This curriculum is known as STEAM, Curriculum at The Academy for Enriched Sciences is also project based, encouraging group learning that emphasizes collaboration.
While academics are clearly very important at The Academy for Enriched Sciences, the school also puts a great deal of emphasis on emotional learning. Through Social and Emotional Learning, known in California Schools as SEL, students are given the tools to express themselves, navigate social situations, and build relationships effectively.
Outside of school hours, The Academy for Enriched Sciences offers enrichment opportunities Monday through Friday, including cooking classes, game design lessons, a jewelry making workshop, and flag football. On top of after school enrichment opportunities, The Academy for Enriched Sciences also hosts social nights for students such as a Dads of Great Students Pizza Night.
While science is certainly paramount at The Academy for Enriched Sciences, students will also be encouraged to discover their passion and cultivate well-rounded interests for the future.

We lucked out getting our girls into this incredible school. Our first daughter has THRIVED here academically. Socially they have helped so much as well. 10/10 . My only wish was that after school enrichment was free, but that’s a pipe dream. No one has that.
