The atmosphere is great, but the science department isn't well funded. Also, the teachers went on strike.

West Albany High School was wonderful academically, but they failed to prepare their students for post-high school life. They didn't tell us until many deadlines had already passed to request documents or even mention college applications beyond the occasional odd comment. I would have like to see more college preparedness for this school.

Overall it's a pretty good school, definitely would like to see less favoritism in the sports but other than that the teachers are great, very kind and respectful and extremely helpful.

West Albany is the best school I have ever seen they are good at sports and academics and also they beat south Albany every time the play them because west is better south sucks.

All that glitters is not gold. Folks in Albany know about West, but posting this for parents, like us, who are moving here from outside the area and don't know the score. I am very disappointed in the lack of concern and effort shown by the staff at WAHS. I have experienced these issues with office staff, teachers, as well as Assistant Principals. There are definitely committed and caring teachers at this school, but the issues with their staff far outweigh these ben...
