Welcome to Escuela Del Sol Montessori. This educational community serves nearly 200 children from prekindergarten through ninth grade in a supportive learning environment. It’s also the oldest independent not-for-profit Montessori school in New Mexico. The school has worked hard to receive a certification from the American Montessori Society, which accredits schools having acceptable interactive learning programs.
Escuela Del Sol offers courses in art, music, Spanish, physical education, gardening, community outreach, and literacy. They also have a very unique approach to the classroom. At Escuela Del Sol, each classroom has students of several ages learning together. These multi-age classrooms encourage healthy social development, and the pupils learn as a group which allows older students to become mentors to younger children. In addition to regular academics, the school offers after-school classes in chess, yoga, fashion, science activities with an art component, and ceramics.
Conveniently located in Downtown Albuquerque, the school’s campus stretches over an entire city block and includes the Harwood Art Center, which is a public outreach program sponsored by the educational facility. For over 50 years, Escuela Del Sol Montessori has educated children with an interactive learning program that creates lifelong learners and leaders.
