GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Best school because it is very well rounded in every aspect. Students are cliquey in the beginning but especially as you progress through the years, you can really find your place here.

My daughter transferred in prior to sophomore year and she felt at home. Everyone was friendly. Teachers and guidance are always helpful

My highschool experience has been amazing. I am a 3 year varsity athlete in soccer and 2 year in baseball. I am involved in 3 clubs at Highlands. But there are over 40 clubs or you can ever create your own. Are school lunch is the best. My teachers have been amazing in helping me achieve all the extra help i need in order to succeed.

Northern Highlands provides an very unique public school dynamic as freshman arrive from 4+ different towns; mainly Allendale, Ho-Ho-Kus, Upper Saddle River, and Saddle River. This allows freshman to have an experience of meeting all new friends, teammates, and classmates early on in their lives and...

My daughter loves her High School! Teachers always find time to connect with the students. As a parent, I wish every High School will adjust it's schedule to have 8:30 AM or 9 AM start. Some not essential classes could be shortened. Our kids NEED to SLEEP more! They will be much more productive!

Good school academically, but those who say that the sports program is competitive must be talking about the girls' teams, which are stellar. The boys' teams tend to not do very well, aside from a few exceptions. Plus, some sports are sorely lacking as compared to others. I considered attending and...
