I love Ames High because it is truly a community. The importance of going to school with people of many different backgrounds is clear when you go to Ames High. Our sports and music culture is unmatched and there are opportunities for all people. I am certain that if you ask most students at Ames High that they are incredibly proud to be students here, as I feel as well.

From someone who came from a small town Ames has been the best change. The academics are way better and the teachers actually want to teach. There are way better options for classes and choices for different types of classes. There are classes for everyone and mostly fit for everyone. Ames is very diversified so it makes it easy for every student to fit in and feel at home. I would totally recommend this school to anyone.

I have enjoyed my experience at Ames High but in my Freshman and sophomore years there were a lot of fights and we are still recovering from several bad administrators. I would like the classes to be harder and detention to be enforced. I loved all of my teachers and there is a lot of diversity and the students support each other which is rare in a school.

Awesome teachers but miserable administration at all levels. So worried about political correctness that they will not back their teachers, and will not AT ALL focus on an effective learning environment for those who simply want to learn. The Ames school system as a whole needs a complete review of...

Didn't realize how great of an education I had received from Ames High until I got to college. AHS really prepared me to succeed at the next level. Also, many great opportunities with academic clubs, sports, arts, music and other misc. clubs. Thrilled with my experience at AHS.

This school can be very comparable to a prison. I attended Ames High School 2008-2012. I LOVED my freshman and sophomore year in high school. Everything was fun the dances, sporting events, school activities, classes, friends, teachers, everything was perfect. Junior and Senior year was just a big d...
