GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I feel lucky that my child has the teacher they do because they are very communicative. However the rest of the staff including specials teachers and most importantly the administration does not communicate. Honestly the worst part of Open is the administration. It feels very anti-parent. I really do hope that changes. A common belief among a lot of families is that Open doesn't do anything for problems that arise. Their conflict resolution style feels adjacent to stonewalling which ends up blowing minor concerns up into bigger ones and can negatively impact students. I think they fail to see their part in issues. It's a real shame. This school has a lot of potential but administration needs to let go of the anti parent bias and it's honestly their responsibility to do the work here.

Absolute bottom of the AAPS schools. The administration is anti-teacher, anti- parent. Children skip class, no accountability and when teachers try to ask for help, they are disciplined. BIPOc children are non- existent at that school, in fact one BIPOC child was chocked unconscious and basically no...

Decidedly mixed. We've had some fantastic teachers that we've adored, some that were only so-so, and some that were weak. I love the ethos of respect for kids that permeates the school. The 7th and 8th grade program, though, is definitely a weak spot of the school. Parents and administrators alike a...

Why would a family stay at a school where they are clearly so unhappy? Let someone in off the waitlist and go to your assigned school! Our experience has been stellar - a caring staff, opportunities for our kids to follow their individual interests, and an emphasis on values we care about. Competiti...

We really liked Ann Arbor Open until our kid got to 7th grade. We'd heard lots of bad things about the 7th and 8th grade program at Open, and knew several people who transferred their kids out of the school after 5th or 6th grade, in order to avoid the 7th and 8th grade program. We decided to stick...
