It was like any other high school except we had good funds and support for sports but the boys sports were definitely favored over the girls, didn't matter which sport. The teachers were always talking about how college is going to be so much different but never explained how or never showed how we could get prepared for the change. Some of our sports coaches were teachers and they chose to favor some of their players/students to help them pass in order for them to play which was greatly unfair.

Atchison High School was a fine school to attend for high school but it had its fair share of issues. Bullying over the diversity of the school was a large issue. Funding was almost always given to the sports teams and taken from the art and music department. Some teachers were amazing role models, but others made the experience worse. Last and also least, they use a racist symbol as a mascot.

I liked how willingly all the history teachers were to help you. I wish the lunch periods were longer so the students allowed to eat out had time to go to McDonald's.Atchison High School has to many fights a quarter and is slowly turning into a prison with several police men and women in the building.
