"Inspiring girls to lead with purpose," Atlanta Girls' School's mission gives girls the power to be thoughtful and capable leaders. In the southwest portion of the West Paces neighborhood lies a unique private school for girls. Serving the area since 2000, AGS is ranked first among the best all-girls high schools in Georgia and the only all-girls high school for Grades 6 through 12. Programs like ceramics, design, drawing, painting and photography give students outlets to nurture their creative sides. Academics include biology, literature, geography and computer science. AGS also offers an extensive athletic program, including basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, track and volleyball. Students learn to be confident, be comfortable taking risks and use their voices. The school requires tuition and the average financial aid is around $7,000. AGS boasts an impressive 100% graduation rate and alumna attend prestigious universities like the University of Georgia, Emory University and Vanderbilt University. We weren't sure about single-gender education when we started looking into AGS but we are now committed fans of the approach. The school makes real leaders out of girls, and has the right mix of rigorous academics and nurturing. Diversity is not just some theory here. The sports programs are competitive and the coaching is great, but know that this is a small school that plays in lower level leagues.

AGS is a great school. It shaped me into the woman I am today and I owe a lot to my teacher's dedication and belief in me. The teachers there are wonderful and push you to think deeper and work harder. The administration is a mess though, and the head of school (as of 2020) is uninvolved and a bad leader. It's disappointing
