Named after William J. Scott, a Baptist pastor who donated the property on which the school is housed, Westside Park’s Scott Elementary School serves approximately 370 students from pre-kindergarten to 5th grade.
As part of the Atlanta Public School System, Scott Elementary has a STEM-focused curriculum as well as enrichment opportunities in areas such as art, dance, music, technology, and robotics. Students also can participate in the school’s Gifted and Talented Education program which provides differentiated instruction for intellectually advanced students.
The school also offers an after-school IMPACT program which was created to provide students with opportunities to enhance their academic pursuits. IMPACT serves up to 120 students in grades K-5 attending Scott Elementary, and focuses on increasing students' academic performance and developing the skills necessary to fill learning gaps in math, science, and literacy. Scott Elementary also offers a Summer Academy of Mathematics and Science which provides more hands-on and project-based learning experiences. The Summer Academy also allows students to participate in science and math-based field trips to broaden the students’ scope of understanding as well as help them apply new knowledge to a variety of subject areas in their day-to-day school experiences.
