Springmont School in Atlanta was founded in 1963 and is the first Montessori school built in the southeast. The school began in a small classroom with eight students and grew to 30 students by the end of the first year, and the middle school for Springmont opened in 2002. Springmont takes a unique approach to teaching and learning. The school provides an education that focuses on each stage of a child’s development and individualizes the curriculum for all students. Students can go at their own pace while teachers point students in the right direction. Springmont offers an after-school program and extracurricular activities for elementary, including intramural sports, a running club, art, chess and karate classes. On top of their elementary and middle school programs, Springmont School also has a toddler program that serves students 18 months to three years old and a primary education program that helps students ages three to six.

My son's experience here has been amazing. The teachers are wonderful and we found them eager to help. My son loves it here and I'm so glad we chose this school over the others we were considering!

All three of our children attended Springmont from age 2.5 through 8th grade. From the beginning, we wanted them to love going to school and to be able to explore their own interests and work at their own pace. Montessori's hands-on learning allows this freedom while still providing a very strong academic experience. To this day, our children are creative, independent learners with compassion for others and a broad understanding of the world.

Teachers and administrators are warm and kind. They truly want the best for every student. Montessori approach creates a love of learning and respect for differences. Highly recommend. My son is in 7th grade, he has attended Springmont since 3rd grade.

Springmont has made an extremely positive impact in our family! One of my daughters suffer from high anxiety and ADHD, and the teachers in her previous (high-rated public) school failed to recognize the symptons and did not support her well enough. Springmont has empowered my children to become passionate and self-directed learners. It’s also created an environment that has developed their compassion and empathy too, which is why we’ve been there for nine years!
