The two elementary schools that feed into it, Lakeland Elementary and Rainier View Elementary, are nearby. The high school that Sequoyah Middle School feeds into, Todd Beamer High School, is located beyond the neighborhood’s boundary to the west of Interstate 5. The school mascot is the phoenix, and the school sports a burgundy color to complement the theme. Sequoyah offers year-round athletic programs in various sports, from cross-country to baseball and fastpitch softball, to soccer, basketball, gymnastics and more. There are also after-school clubs for multiple interests available Monday through Thursday. Students can participate in a reading club, homework club, jazz band club, art club and more. Sequoyah Middle School participates in the Choice Registration Program. Families can opt to attend a district school other than their neighborhood-assigned one by applying for placement granted via lottery on a space-available basis.

Terrible leadership from Principal Jackson. We've had multiple issues with my kids being bullied in school and nothing has been done to prevent this. The safety and security of the kids that attend this school should be a priority to the teachers and this failed principal. The kids are allowed to mo...

I can't wait to be done with this school. One of the only good things going for them is Ms Ball. There's a few good staff that actually want the best for the students but for the most part they are just there cuz it's their job. Other than that, OH WELL. NO CONTROL over those kids

The students rule the roost here. Administration does not discipline problem children, leaving the teachers ineffectual at doing the same. Assaults between students are treated with a "kids will be kids" attitude, which exacerbates the issue.
