Olive Middle School is a public middle school in Baldwin Park. It is part of the Baldwin Park Unified School District (BPUSD) and located near Walnut Elementary, teaching grades 6-8.
Olive Middle School offers several programs and elective courses which prepare students for high school and further their social and emotional development. In addition to a gifted and talented program, electives are offered in coding and scientific instruction that goes beyond required science classes. Music programs in brass, orchestra, and choral instruction are available.
With Baldwin Park being a primarily Spanish-speaking community, a dual language program is available to students who are able to maintain a 2.5 GPA and participate in fundraisers and extracurricular activities. Olive Middle School's dual language program teaches two classes in Spanish and the rest in English rather than the 90/10 approach. It is designed to prepare students for AP Spanish in high school and decide if they will continue bilingual education.
The school participates in Disney's Youth Education anti-bullying program and frequently has assemblies featuring prominent anti-bullying speakers who regularly come to California schools.
To meet the needs of working parents, Olive Middle School has partnered with Think Together to offer diversity education and arts enrichment after school programs plus virtual resources such as homework assistance.
