I appreciate all the opportunities Blacksburg High School affords to its students. Its facilities are top-notch, and it has a wide array of academic, extracurricular, and career-oriented offerings. However, it seems to struggle to accommodate the needs of some of its students. I wish the guidance department was more proactive in helping students determine which classes would help them achieve their career/college aspirations.

Subpar staff and administrators. Most are only in the building for a paycheck and not the welfare of the students unless the students are select favorites.

Teachers do not make the necessary efforts to support students. They clock in and clock out. We, as parents, are not kept in the loop very well and our student was allowed to fail without so much as a peep from his teachers.

100% agree with few previous reviewers: teachers do not work well with students who do not fit their ideal student, there are favorites and then there are the kids that get marginalized. Students who need even the tiniest amount of help should transfer.

Very happy with BMS! My daughter just finished 6th grade and we were very impressed with her teachers and their educational curriculum. I highly recommend BMS to parents moving to the area.
