i'm not sure why this school is so highly rated. my experience there was absolutely terrible. the school is extremely unequipped to handle students with unique needs due to mental illnesses or other disabilities. most teachers i interacted with were very rude and did not appear to care for their students. the school also felt very unsafe. at one point there were fights between students every morning. once a student brought a weapon and the reaction from the staff to handle it felt very inadequate. all in all this school is very subpar and i'm not sure how others had good experiences. there were the rare one or two great staff members, so shoutout to them. otherwise yeah it was not a good time here lol

Lack of awareness for identity based bullying. I'm sure there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes but its hardly enough to actually keep students safe.

little emphasis placed on the SAT/ACTs, but rather teachers stress end of course exams. bullying is horrendous and there is nothing done about it. favoritism towards students who play sports and all the teachers, faculty, and staff only care about the schools sports. high lack of diversity.

I recently retired from BSHS. I taught for 44 years in SC, the last 17 at BSHS in the English Department. There is no other faculty greater than those who teach at BSHS. They are trained in the most current research based instructional strategies, they are caring, supportive of the administration, k...
