Hawthorne Elementary has been a fixture in Boise's Vista neighborhood since its inception in the late 1880s. The current campus is near South Vista Avenue and Dill Drive. Over the years, the public school has moved, expanded and renovated its campus with the most recent remodel taking place in 1989. The newest remodel includes 18 classrooms, a multipurpose room, a state-of-the-art library, an office complex, two playgrounds and a large recreation field.
Here, the Hawks are inspired to become productive and valued members of the community through a variety of S.T.E.M.-based programs and the support of dedicated teachers and parents. Hawthorne Elementary caters to pre-K through sixth-grade students and focuses on academic achievement, fostering kindness and establishing a solid foundation to ensure future success.
Kids enjoy the interactive lessons at the school's signature Native Plants Teaching Garden where students learn to connect with the natural world while cultivating artist, sensory and pollinator green spaces. Other school highlights include a dynamic music and orchestra program, a G.A.T.E. program for gifted students and the annual S.T.E.A.M. Showcase where kids get hands-on with science, math, engineering and art to create fun-filled innovations.
Parents are encouraged to participate through volunteer opportunities and support Hawthorne Elementary's active parent-teacher organization. Students will thrive at Hawthorne Elementary School as the academic environment fosters excellence through community collaboration.

I loved this school. It felt like family to me and my kids. Everyone was so involved and kind and looked out for the kids. They had lots of different events for the kids to participate in and welcomed parental involvement.
