Brazos School for Inquiry and Creativity is part of a two-school charter network accredited by the Texas Education Agency. Its original campus is in Bryan, TX, near Texas A & M University. This Brazos School branch, located at 1055 W. Tidwell Rd., serves 160 students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. Brazos Tidwell accepts students for an early pre-kindergarten program starting at age three. Pre-kindergarten students must turn three or four by September 1 and meet state eligibility guidelines based on income or other factors. Although the Tidwell Brazos School is a free, open-enrollment charter school, it only accepts students from the Katy or Houston Independent School Districts. That means only students in the eastern part of Acres Homes zones to the Houston district are eligible for admission. Although only 75% of teachers are certified compared with the state average of 98%, there’s a student-teacher ratio of 11-to-1. This compares favorably with the state average of 15 students to every teacher.
