Cesar Batalla was an immigrant activist from Puerto Rico who moved to Bridgeport at a young age and lived his life in service of others. Speaking on behalf of those less fortunate than himself, he fought for social justice and the abolishment of discriminatory practices towards minority populations, specifically in public schools and the city’s public service departments. It is this same spirit of activism, social justice and change that fuel the mission of the Cesar A. Batalla School. Located on the corner of State Street and Howard Avenue, the prekindergarten through eighth grade students at the Batalla School stand poised to serve their community. Opened in 2007, the school’s large campus features a fresh glass and brick exterior and includes playgrounds, basketball courts, athletic fields and an outdoor courtyard and dining area. The facility is one of the most impressive school buildings in all of Bridgeport. In 2022, the school won a service award for its annual canned food drive and raised $1,500 in a fundraiser for the crisis in Ukraine. At the Cesar A. Batalla School, academics and community service always come first.

I go to this school and it is not good this school is invested with rats in the kitchen library and cafeteria. The school may have different races but the Spanish classes are treated differently then regular student even admitted by some teachers. This school also has a lot of fights that sometimes teachers dont care about and kids dont get suspended.

I was very encouraged by my visits to Cesar Batalla School as of recent. The new principal is doing a great job in fostering partnerships with universities, organizations and families. Every time I see her, she is engaging and interacting with students and parents, always front-facing and welcoming....

Most teachers in that school are there just because they can't get a job in their town don't care if kids fail.

I've seen some of the parents there who "supposedly care so much about their children and have so much concern"...you are an embarassment and wrongly project your anger and failures onto your children and those who try to make it better for them. I would not want to teach your children if I knew som...
