Founded in 2010, Brooklyn Dreams Charter School is a free public institution that serves kindergarten to eighth grade, with approximately 600 students under current enrollment. The school is located on Parkville Avenue, between Ocean Parkway and Coney Island Avenue, and emphasizes teaching morals, decision making and collaborative work. Performance in algebra and English currently rank on par or above when compared statewide. With the student-teacher ratio at 15-1, instructors can more effectively allocate their time, ensuring each student is set up for success. Likewise, its EXCEL-ERATE program, an advanced learning curriculum, helps encourage students to thrive academically. Students also have access to various after-school clubs that involve coding, theater, art, music and more. Though Brooklyn Dreams is a public institution, it operates independently from other New York City public schools, which means rules and regulations may differ.
