Brooklyn Laboratory Charter School was founded in 2013 by Erin Mote and Eric Tucker with the purpose of eliminating the achievement gap and giving students the foundation and leadership skills to thrive in college and the professional world. Commonly referred to as Brooklyn LAB, the school is located in Downtown Brooklyn off of Sands Street, and it serves around 514 students in sixth through 12th grade. Brooklyn Laboratory Charter School places emphasis on providing quality education to all students regardless of their needs, academic level or English proficiency. Its after-school program, called InnovateEDU, makes the school an attractive option for parents who want to give their middle school students extra exposure to STEM, literacy and athletics. Additionally, Brooklyn Lab students can compete across a variety of endeavors, such as debate and robotics, and are given the opportunity to film and produce their own theatrical and filmed works.

It's a good school but sometimes I feel like the teachers that teach do not want to be there. They don't put their mind to it. Some students are really horrible in school. That's what makes the school bad. I really don't think the school is a bad school overall but they need to hire new people.

I've attended the school for 3 years going 4. It started off a bit rough but as time went on I've seen it grow and improve. That's what's so special about it it continues to grow where it is not perfect and attacks all its problems head on. The school keeps students involved it is beautiful to see.

Brooklyn Laboratory Charter School has an incredible team of educators who embody compassion and dedication towards their students. I have witnessed firsthand the commitment they have in supporting each child's social and emotional growth. The teachers go above and beyond to ensure that the learning environment is nurturing and inclusive. This school truly fosters a sense of compassion among its staff.
