J.H.S 220 John J. Pershing is a junior high school in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Neighboring hospital, the Maimonides Medical Center, provides excellent programs for students to explore medical and science careers through enrichment and community service opportunities. Students can also participate in the school’s gifted program in addition to a magnet science class, while those interested in languages can opt into the English and Spanish Dual language program. In addition to comprehensive learning programs, the school offers visual arts and music as well as Broadway Juniors which produces a school musical each year. The most unique program, however, is an architectural program for seventh graders through which students learn how to create floor plans and scale models before presenting their projects to a panel of professional architects. The school offers great outdoor amenities including a track that encircles a basketball court and volleyball court, and outdoor classroom areas. The school also welcomes the Sunset Park community to its open outdoor spaces.

Class of 2016 I was in honor class so my experience is much better than most people. First to say huge improvement from years ago before I went there I heard there use to be lots of gangs and police everywhere. Teacher are nice and neighborhood friendly people are nice but there are lots of groups and if you don't get into one your life is going to horrible at school join an group normally form your class. Remember the people of this school is very bias especially the deans and teacher so it best to make relationship to provide the best experience. If you don't have group you in no matter if it your class or an group of friends that big enough you will suffer from the other students as not all the students are friendly and easily influenced by the group. I suggest you go honor class but if you don't fit in it the class it ok to go to an normal where you do remember this school is all about how you fit in your class.

I love it!! The teachers are amazing and very caring. Some are strict but they help us learn. Everyone is very friendly and the learning and the teaching are above the standard!! What I learn here are what I'm learning in HS right now!!! My state test also improved a lot from being at John J. Pershing 220!!

Review for John J. Pershing 220:Unfortunately, my experience at John J. Pershing 220 has been far from positive. One major issue that stands out is the front door lady. From the very first interaction, she was incredibly rude and unhelpful. Instead of offering a warm welcome or assistance, her dismi...

It needs to be known that this school is not safe for your children. The rating it receives does not match the low quality of the school. Only children in the honors classes are really provided with helpful teachers. Other students fall behind without much guidance from the school. Teachers do their...
