Brown International Academy offers a variety of unique academic and extracurricular activities for prekindergarten through fifth-grade students. Spanish language instruction combined with art, music, dance and technology creates a complete intercultural program for the students at Brown International Academy.
With a history that dates to 1952, the academy was named after Edward L. Brown. Brown worked as a Denver Public Schools teacher, principal and assistant superintendent between 1898 and 1931. Teachers, parents and community members chose the International Baccalaureate Primary Year Program as its focus after the school's 2003 revitalization.
Every student enjoys Brown's academic and special programs on a 1-week rotation basis. The special programs include physical education, music, drama, art, Spanish and technology courses. Every child's social and emotional learning is supported by daily class morning meetings, during which students practice greeting, sharing, messaging and partake in various activities.
The school's before- and after-school childcare program, Discovery Link, provides children with high-quality educational, recreational and cultural opportunities. Its welcoming presence, art-filled hallways and numerous learning opportunities are a reminder of the hard work, resilience and perseverance of Brown International Academy.
