GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

The sports teams were mediocre at best, we might have won one game per year. The physical education was boring and generally lacked variety; some days we'd just sit on the floor until the end of class and do nothing.

Most administrators played little to no role in school life. There wasn't a guidance councelor and the principal was too busy to have dialogues with students.

My son transferred from a school outside of Tuscaloosa county and we were nervous about the transition but my son has flourished since being at Sipsey Valley Middle. He's more outgoing, confident, and making great grades.
