We have had an overall great experience with Calera School considering I, myself have graduated from Calera, my son who is 23 attended his entire life, my 18yr old who is graduating this year plus I have a 13 yr old. So any opportunity I can give back to my community I try to. I had a wonderful teacher that went on to be the High School principal for a few years. I had a great basketball coach that became principal & served in that area for a few years...So we have a great community of overall great teachers who do care about the students.

Being from a small school such as Calera you learn a lot more than you would in a larger schools. I have been in both situations & truly see the teachers get to know you more 1 on 1 when they don't have over crowded class rooms. Most of the staff have benefited my children fairly well considering I have 1 that has asberger syndrome. I wish they would have more funding to actually hire teachers in specific fields. As far as my daughter that is graduating she has done fairly well through out every situation @ Calera. She loves her classmates & teachers and I feel in my opinion we have a great school system. I also work in the larger schools & see they have more funding in areas we do not therefore they are able to reward the children a little more & see that as something beneficial to the students to help build their self-esteem as well as their confidence level. I wish Calera could get help in as well. However for the schools are size all around, I feel we have one of the BEST schools & very proud to say we are from Calera. They also took it to another level & the Booster Club did something so Amazing that I haven't seen in awhile they had a statue built to honor a long time Bulldog fan which passed away.It was my step-dad so therefore they makes me really proud & excited to see how our community steps up to recognize those who have put their time in the community so I try to give back wherever I can as well. Therefore another reason my daughter would like to go on to be an Elementary Teacher to be able to come back to our community & teach where she has been so blessed.
