The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
The Test Score Rating reflects annual state test results for this school compared with scores statewide.

Mascoma is a great school for people who like small towns. It's not perfect, but overall it's a good school.

My experience at mascoma high school was not good. I felt very isolated and ignored. I strived to try to get the most out of my high school experience but even when i was trying very hard it is still a below average education. I had no support and had to advocate for myself when i shouldn't have had to and even then my needs were still not met. I had some social struggles and there was a lot of bigotry in the school, it did not feel like a safe or accepting environment which made it an even harder place to learn. What I would like to see change in the school would be is here awareness and there acceptance. If mascoma could learn to teach acceptance and awareness it would be a good place to start so they could start to work on other areas as well.

I would change everything. The bullying, the kids smoking in bathrooms, the meanness. Nobody cares. Tough time with some teachers. Never enough time to eat lunch and if I do they run out of food before I get to it.
The school has been rebuilt and is beautiful. The teachers are very engaged with the kids and it shows in the progress that has been made in recent years. We are seeing the great improvement in the students from investing in them with a great building.

As a parent I am torn, both my children have done very well and are in AP classes, yet I do not feel that they are challenged by their peers. my school is probably the worst out there. Even though everyone is very loving I still would not send your ch...
