Established in 2012, Kyrene Traditional Academy focuses on a traditional teaching model with more structured lessons and a balance of core subjects with complementary enrichment classes. Located just north of Chandler Fashion Center, the academy serves more than 550 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. It’s part of the Kyrene School District, which covers the southern region of metro Phoenix. Here, the motto is “citizens, scholars, and friends.” And the academy lives up to its mission of academic excellence, with honors as an A+ School of Excellence in Arizona and being deemed a National Blue Ribbon School. Plus, Kyrene Traditional Academy often ranks in the top 10% of elementary schools in Arizona, with reading and math test scores well above the state averages. To achieve these accolades, students excel through Spalding reading and phonics and the Saxon math program, with further lessons in science, social studies and health. For more well-rounded development, the academy also integrates traditional instruction in art, music, computers and physical education. As for extracurriculars and other notable programs, students can thrive in drama club, student council, science fair and the National Elementary Honor Society. They may also participate in the gifted, Native American, dual language or special education programs that suit their needs.

I have had all three of my children at Sureno, KTA from 2009-2019 and have seen many changes, improvements, growth from different teachers and principals to the addition of 7th & 8th grade.
