I'm a fifth grader at McDougle Elementary and I feel like the teachers need to give the kids a little bit more freedom. Also the teachers yell at you sometimes if you're not doing what you're asked. They can be unhelpful to a student. Kindergarten and first grade were good, but from 2nd grade on it was worse. Learning is very slow. They spend a month talking about a subject that we already know, and you don't learn anything new.

MES is a great school. The principal is amazing and the teachers are so committed and connected. The PTA is so welcoming and does so much for the school. My kids have been very happy at MES.

This school has a lot of problems which the principal conveniently does not address. She prefers to skirt around parents who ask for help, whether it be for services concerning learning, bullying, classroom issues, etc. Don't expect for any problems to get resolved at McDougle. We moved to Chapel Hill 2 years ago and weren't sure what to expect from McDougle Elementary. We now have 2 kids there and couldn't be happier with the teachers and staff. Any concerns we have had were handled appropriately. I feel very fortunate to have our kids at McDougle!

We recently moved to Chapel Hill. I, myself, grew up moving every 5 years. My mother was a elementary educator for 30+ years. This has honestly been one of the least organized and least parent-friendly schools, administration, I have ever experienced. If you have a child who lies outside of the norm...
