Charles Towne Montessori, founded in 1972, is the only internationally accredited Montessori school in South Carolina. Located at 56 Leinbach Drive in Charleston and conveniently located in the Wappoo Shores neighborhood, this accredited private school has programs for toddlers ages 15 months - 3 years, Primary Age children ages 3 years - 6 years and elementary age students between 6 years - 12 years old. Teachers at Charles Towne Montessori are Association Montessori Internationale certified, and the school has a 15-1 child-teacher ratio. Daily programs consist of classical Montessori education: independent learning focused on confidence-building and positive educational experiences. The school has a licensed daycare facility that offers extended hours and an after-school educational program for an additional fee. In 2022, Charles Towne Montessori added summer camp programs for currently enrolled students to provide families with different school-based activities. New families are matched with parent ambassadors through the Charles Towne Montessori Parent Association to assist with school assimilation.
