Ashley Hall, South Carolina’s only independent private school for girls, was founded by Mary Vardrine McBee in 1909 as a non-profit college preparatory school for young ladies. Today, Ashley Hall offers educational programs for girls pre-kindergarten through 12th grade and a co-educational preschool for boys ages 2 to 5. Additionally, there is a boarding program for girls in 9th through 12th grades. Ashley Hall offers an interdisciplinary curriculum that includes discussion-based learning, advanced placement courses, and hands-on, research-based STEM classes and laboratory sciences that stimulate young minds. Athletics, music, art, extracurricular activities, community service and faculty-led travel opportunities round out the programs. A diverse student body and teaching staff allow for cross-cultural experiences, and class sizes are small, which means more time for teacher-student interaction. With the aim of “empowering young women with self-confidence and a can-do attitude,” Ashley Hall focuses on academic achievement and strong community involvement, encouraging girls in leadership skills and higher aspirations.

it's decent but not that good, i don't like most of the classes and the food is terrible most of the time

The diversity is terrible and the social environment has not been good for me at all. I would rate it overall at average due to the school's own connections and facilities in addition to some awesome teachers (there have been some not great teachers as well). The academics and college readiness are most likely my two favorite parts of this school even though it can make life more stressful.

I hate this school. they made my child cry every night, got serious depression and anxiety disorder. If your child hasn't gone there since they were 2 they will NOT make friends. Not worth your money at all. Your child will get better grades, sat/act scores, college prep at a FREE school.

Honestly it sucks but we have to do a lot of stuff with our family. Some teachers don't use fair grading.

My daughter is in the 10th grade at Ashley Hall, and started school there in the 6th grade, after moving down from Connecticut. She has fit in wonderfully. She has a wonderful group of friends, and she is thriving. She is challenged everyday. She is currently taking 3 languages, and is very motivate...

It was the best decision we ever made for our daughter. Wish we had started her there in first grade.

My daughter graduated from AH 2 years ago and had an amazing experience. She was challenged, inspired and encouraged by her teachers. She is now at Rice University with numerous leadership roles- Honor Council, Academic Advising, and just got elected Junior Rep. AH set her up for Success! We love As...
