GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Overall, I always felt as if my teachers were involved and concerned with my academic success. They always did a fantastic job of making me feel important when in the building. I do however hope that eventually the school will make bigger strides in the direction of acceptance for all its students.

This school is the heart of this small community. Everyone rallies together to support the all sports with Hometown pride. Very safe atmosphere and environment. The academics and college preparedness could use a little improvement but overall it's a good school.

Sissonville High School is a safe and welcoming environment, with teachers who want to see their students succeed. They have an awesome counseling department and health clinic. The classes at Sissonville High School are the same average classes you would find at just about any other high school. Sports teams are highly respected here and school spirit seems to be a huge deal to the administration.

I've moved to TN and am still very proud of my WV roots. I just heard where SHS has decided to change a policy of praying before ballgames: don't do it, please! Don't be bullied nor scared into changing a choice to pray for safety and sportsmanship for the youth at your school. What does that hurt?...
