Nestled on the west side of Belmont Gardens just north of Kelvyn Park is the neighborhood’s only elementary school, Barry Elementary School, which serves more than 500 students from pre-K to sixth grade. Children who attend the school are required to wear uniforms as part of the school policy.
Like other schools in Chicago, the elementary school has instituted a new social-emotional learning policy to help address the whole student, not just their academic performance.
Though the school struggles with standardized test scores, a 5Essentials survey showed parents and guardians being heavily involved in school life and a strong set of effective teachers and collaborative leaders. The same survey shows the school has strong, ambitious instruction in which classes are challenging and engaging. Classrooms are interactive, and the curriculum encourages students to build and apply knowledge.
The school offers extracurricular activities, such as a dance club, where students can find and do what they’re passionate about.

This school has been good for the past three years, now my daughter is in third grade, she is being educated what she was educated in second grade witch is very frustrating for me. I tried to change her from classroom, but not possible.
