Located at 2723 N Fairfield Ave., Logan Square's Brentano Math and Science Academy serves pre-kindergarten through eighth grade students and is the recipient of a 2021 Thrive Award for achieving better test scores and learning outcomes for students.
Brentano Math and Science Academy enrolls 562 students with an average class size of 24 and student-to-teacher ratio of 15-to-1. Brentano's curriculum is built around "discovery and problem-solving," and literacy and math studies are supplemented by science projects and social studies. The humanities are introduced to children through the visual arts, music and drama.
Brentano's teachers also work with the University of Illinois Chicago, the University of Chicago, the Erikson Institute, the Museum of Science and Industry, the Brookfield Zoo and Boundless Readers to enhance their students' learning experiences inside and outside of the classroom.
Brentano's pre-kindergarten program has been recognized with a Gold Circle of Quality seal for its excellent content. All pre-kindergarten through eighth graders enjoy one hour of arts enrichment and 30 minute of physical education daily, and student productions and dramatic performances are enthusiastically supported at Brentano Elementary.
