Located on Chicago's South Side, CICS Prairie serves kindergarten through eighth-grade students as part of the Chicago Public Schools system. CICS Prairie is a public charter school that prepares students for successful high school careers. Dedicated to closing learning gaps and highlighting a STEAM-based curriculum, CICS Prairie uses in-class technology to teach Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics.
The charter school also employs cross-curricular Problem Based Learning methods to foster connections between real-world experiences, academic subjects and abstract thinking. Managed by nonprofit Distinctive Schools, CICS Prairie is one of five Distinctive Schools in Chicago. The charter school recently received a Wired to Learn grant from Relativity, a Chicago-based technology company.
Peace Players of Chicago, a youth-based basketball program promoting tolerance, is an enrichment opportunity for students. This program is one of the many ways CICS Prairie works to educate each child.

The school person grades our science work does not grade properly and this could be seen on our report cards, Most of my class is failing science due to a lack of keeping up with our work and this is very harmful to our future careers.

Horrible. There were constant threats of violence and racial slurs being thrown to both the black and Hispanic students, with no repercussions for it. The teaching was below average and I didn't learn much before I graduated at least things that I didn't learn in 4th grade.
