Located at 3116 W Belden Ave. in Chicago's Logan Square, Darwin Elementary serves pre-kindergarten / kindergarten through eighth grade and is part of the "Leader in Me" movement. The "Leader in Me" initiative is founded on a belief that all children possess leadership qualities that can positively influence their educational experience.
Darwin Elementary enrolls 538 students who enjoy an average class size of 25 and a student-to-teacher ratio of 22-to-1. According to U.S. News and World Report, Darwin Elementary is one of the top 200 public middle schools in Chicago. 12 percent of Darwin's students are proficient in math and 13 percent test at or above proficiency levels in reading.
Darwin's athletic department includes competitive cheerleading, softball, soccer, baseball, basketball, cross country, track and field and volleyball. Students also participate in extracurricular activities like painting, choir, rock band, drama, poetry, creative writing and world language courses.
The school's outdoor facilities provide younger children with colorful playground space and wide paved paths. Inside Darwin Elementary, students celebrate large displays of wall art that include the "Great Happens Here" collage.

Darwin Principal and Assistant Principal and staff are poorly trained. The school is severely understaffed but have $15 grant in 2023. During that year the biggest purchase was over 20 fish tanks planted throughout the school, now in 2024 not one is in sight. There is so much bullying and racism at...
