Oscar Depriest Elementary School provides preschoolers through eighth graders with a public school education on the West Side of Chicago. The school offers students an International Baccalaureate degree. Named after Oscar DePriest, the first Black person elected to Chicago City Council and a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, the school is located at 139 S. Parkside Ave. The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program offers students instruction in languages, literature, visual arts, music, sciences, social studies and P.E. This program guides students toward higher education and college careers. The school's athletics teams participate in a variety of sports, including basketball, cross country, football, soccer, track and field, volleyball, tennis, flag football and competitive cheerleading. Extracurricular clubs like gardening, chess, choir, dance, tumbling and fashion design enrich students' lives with after-school activities and new peer-to-peer relationships.

DePriest is a vibrant learning community. The school is really rising from the ashes. The teachers care for the students, and are eager to work with parents.
