Josephinum Academy of The Sacred Heart is an all-girls Catholic high school run by the Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago. Serving students in Grades 9-12, the academy takes a world-class approach to academic excellence, emphasizing holistic, moral and spiritual development. With 150 enrolled students hailing from over 40 zip codes in the Chicago area, Josephinum Academy prides itself on small class sizes and its commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.
Nicknamed "The Jo," the school was opened in 1890 by the Sisters of Christian Charity. The city's longest-standing all-girls high school, the academy transferred to the Sacred Heart Association in 1911. The school boasts a variety of teaching strategies that encourage students to analyze the world around them critically. Josephinum Academy provides several fine and performing arts programs in addition to rigorous academic subjects. The school's athletic program, known as the Josephinum Cougars, includes volleyball, cross country, basketball and soccer. Activities at the academy include Model UN, hip hop dance club, baking club, badminton club, newspaper and more.

As an alum from the school I can say that the teacher's compassion for the students success is very well good because unlike most teacher they want to make sure you have everything that you need to be college ready.

I'm reallt glad that I got to attend this high school. It was a great overall experience, and it helped shape me into the person I am. The teachers I had were there for me to help me succeed both as a person and as a student. The best things about the school is how friendly and welcoming the staff was to us students.

What I like about Josephinum Academy is that every, I mean EVERYONE is always there to help you with anything you need. School, home problems, friendship problems, relationship problems, anything. Everyone there wants to see you do great in life and wants you to do your very best and they all know you can.

Josephinum is a school unlike any other. It s a place where a girl can come to learn without holding back because of male distractions. The teachers really care about how we learn and where we are. Though unsure of the school at first, I came to love it and can t imagine being anywhere else.
