Sitting at 720 W. Belmont Ave., Our Lady of Mount Carmel Academy (OLMCA) waves its red and gold school colors proudly when students graduate. Providing a faith-based, private Catholic education to pre-kindergarten through eighth grade students in Lakeview, this beloved institution enrolls 269 students that are supported by a talented and dedicated staff.
Founded in 1888, OLMCA was awarded Blue Ribbon School status in 2013 and 2019 by the U.S. Department of Education for academic excellence. OLMCA's Casey Hall is considered the oldest Catholic school building in use in the Archdiocese of Chicago today.
Students at OLMCA demonstrate high proficiency scores in both math and reading, placing in the top 5 to 10% of all schools. OLMCA's Science Olympiad team has progressed to the University of Illinois' state championships for three consecutive years, and OLCMA's sixth through eighth graders prepare for high school with rigorous instruction in the sciences, social studies, language arts and math while embarking on unique opportunities to engage.
Each year, OLMCA's middle schoolers enjoy an overnight wilderness trip to Lorado Taft. The school's annual middle school musical showcases student talent, while volunteering at the Lakeview Food Pantry builds an appreciation for community service.
One of Lakeview's oldest Catholic middle schools, OLMCA prepares students for their futures and beyond with faith, focus and devotion.
