Steps away from the 606 Trail, the Clybourn Metra Station and the Kennedy Expressway, St. Mary of the Angels School sits in the Bucktown neighborhood. It’s a tuition-based Catholic prekindergarten through eighth grade school of the Archdiocese of Chicago. St. Mary was founded on February 15, 1900, by four Sisters of the Congregation of the Resurrection with an enrollment of 425 students.
Today, the school is a recipient of the National School of Character Award. Its faculty of highly qualified, dedicated and attentive teachers provide a diverse educational experience with classes in everything from reading, grammar and music to STEM and more. Located at 1810 North Hermitage Avenue, in the heart of Bucktown, the school is known for its rigorous academic curriculum and a warm, welcoming school community. Parents have full access to all staff members, whether it be a visit on the playground or at pickup, an email or a special meeting.
The school’s mission of creating an inviting space at school is realized daily as lifelong friendships are developed between the staff, students and parents. The school is on the same campus as the historic St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church.

i have witnessed their programs and their care for the students. they are excellent. i also have toured their facilities and the students are well provided. i have never seen the faculty to be so enthusiastic about the progress of the students. in this age of neglect and so much emphasis on materialism there is fresh air here with emphasis on the values

Amazing school!! We have been at SMA for 10 years and my kids are doing wonderful! Staff and teachers are great full of patience, dedication and knowledge. The Principal is a great leader she does a great job in keeping school safe and running smoothly. Part of the mission at SMA is "To receive each child as a unique gift" this is so true. Very pleased with SMA.
