GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Overall I have loved my time here. I would not want to go anywhere else in Beaufort County. The teachers are all very sweet and most care about you not only in the classroom but outside of it as well.

As a senior, I am glad I got to experience my high school journey with SHS. I grew close to my classmates and even upperclassmen. As well as growing close to the teachers and forming tight bonds with almost everyone I have come in contact with. During sport seasons, I have found myself in times of joy and also in classrooms I have found myself wanting to be educated more.

The worst part was there was not a very big pool of classes to choose from like my friends at other schools had. We had no AP or IB classes or any abstract classes like sports medicine or anything or interest for electives. I had to go to a community college to take those classes and miss out on 2 years of high school apart from my classmates to pursue AP level classes. Me and my classmates expanded the sports we had by making a swim team which wasn't already made available to students. I liked the teachers but our principle changed almost every year and we never had a constant principle to look up to. The best part was the sports teams I was on because we were able to travel for competitions. The clubs were also a good part to be apart of the community.
