George Washington Carver STEM School is a preK-8 public school, part of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, that is centrally located in Cleveland’s Central neighborhood. Its mission is to provide a supportive learning environment that inspires excellence.
As a STEM school, George Washington Carver prioritizes science, technology, engineering and math in students’ daily learning. Instruction for grades K-5 incorporates the Journeys curriculum, emphasizing reading and integrating interactive technology and small groups. The school also implements the SpringBoard program to incorporate greater teacher input, consistency across grade levels and smart technology. The school’s academic growth earned recognition in 2019 when George Washington Carver STEM earned the state Momentum Award.
The school offers up a number of sports leagues for their student body, including boys and girls basketball, boys and girls track, girls volleyball and cheerleading.
George Washington Carver STEM School places a premium on parent involvement, offering Parent Advisory Committee meetings, monthly discussions and more.
A dress code is enforced for all students, as is the Cleveland Metropolitan School District Code of Conduct.

GWC is on the move to better things. It has made some improvements this past year, but still needs to continue to focus on culture and raising student achievement. They have gotten some new teachers and the shift is coming!
